First, both of them are pretty costly to gear due to needing critical chance...
But gladiator is the easier one to gear: this is due to the fact that Currently Intellect is the expensive stat and due to Moonlords high scaling ... INT boosts their damage exceedingly high... Gladiators Scale really well of STR, but not this much...
As for higher damage, if you are as skilled with a Gladiator as CrunchyFrog or Bullet, then well you will likely out DPS Moonlords of equal skill level. It takes quite a lot of practice to get to that level though... and moonlord is much easier but I would play what you enjoy both are some really strong, fun classes!
At average skill level, well if you know what you are doing you will beat Moonlords on small bosses, on medium sized bosses it is up to skill... and on Larger bosses it is in favor of the Moonlord
